One of the mission initiatives we have been talking about as a church is reading volunteers for Casa View Elementary School. Some of our youth went to Casa View when they were children. Some other students at Casa View have visited us or been enrolled in our Academy. For the past two years I have been tutoring students at Casa View two days a week during the school year. The students are so receptive to volunteers. The teachers and staff of the school are hardworking people who love the students. The principal is so appreciative of the tutoring and all the many things that have been donated to the school over the years from the church and the Disciples Women: school supplies, underwear, uniform pants, coats, bottled water and more. Several people in our congregation have volunteered at the school for events, for the SBDM committee and in other ways throughout the years. We believe that the best way to show our love and commitment to Jesus is to show Jesus’ love to others through the various mission initia- tives. The volunteering will begin in October and there will be a cou- ple of short training sessions here at the church and at the school.

You are able to tell them when you are available and they will work with you to match your schedule to the schedule of a child who needs tutoring.
